See what raven_mcbain asked me…
Do you ever take fan fiction and turn it into an original piece by changing the characters or whatever?
No I haven’t done that specifically. It’s much easier for me to write an original piece from scratch. There are a lot of assumptions made in fan fiction about character knowledge that wouldn’t transfer over to an original story. For me the whole fun of writing an original piece of fiction is to develop the characters from the ground up.
What is your favorite genre of novel and if you can think of one what is your favorite novel?
I don’t know that I could nail down a single genre of novel any more than I could pick a single genre of music and call it my favorite. I’ll read just about anything if it is well written and thought out. I just finished an interesting and sort of trippy book by Haruki Murakami called After Dark that I really liked. And I have recently discovered Terry Pratchett. I have several of those on my Kindle right now.
Did you always want to be a teacher?
Yeah, pretty much. I come from a family of teachers. I think it’s in my genes. Though I do not teach full time any more. I am mostly an administrator now.
Are you an impatient or patient sort of person?
For the most part I think I am a patient person. I tend to be a planner. By definition that makes me patient.
Do you enjoy cooking?
I love to cook. My grandmother taught me to cook when I was a kid. Thanks to her I can make just about anything without having to look at a recipe. I am starting to write down recipes for the stuff I make all the time. I’ll probably have enough for a cookbook by the time I’m done.
