ANNOUNCEMENT

I am firmly of the opinion that when one door closes another one opens. At least it's always been that way for me. Jobs, relationships, projects, hobbies, whatever. As you may have noticed, my fic updates have become few and far between. And those responding have been fewer and further between. I know this is because my interest is waning. Not in writing, but in writing fanfiction. I don't read it anymore. I honestly have no desire to write it anymore.

I'm not going to say that I'm never going to pick up a pen and write fanfiction ever again, but I know myself pretty well. We've been living together for almost 45 years now and you get to know a person. So while I'm not going to say I'm never going to do it again, I am going to say, given my track record, it's very unlikely. I usually only come to these sort of decisions when the phrase "beating a dead horse" is appropriate. And that is exactly how I feel.

I've been thinking about this for some time now. And just when I was getting to the point of wanting to quit and wondering what I would be doing next, the writing gig with TheTwoCents.com came along.

One door closes, another opens.

I have several bits of original fiction sitting in various states of finishedness. I want my energy to go there and the reporting gig. These are things that have the potential to lead to me actually getting published one day. Fanfiction is a dead end for me.

I've unlocked this journal. People will no longer need my permission to view any of the posts. I will still be around. Even if I am not posting fanfiction, I still use this journal as a sounding board and always will, not to mention the ever-present Twitter updates. I will maintain my website, aeoncole.com, as an archive of my fanfiction and fan graphics. I will also maintain and remain the mod for the communities I've created.

I know that most of you signed on here for CSI: Miami fiction so I will completely understand if you decide to leave. It's been a fun and I wish everyone the best.

For those of you who decide to stick around, stay tuned. I'm not really certain what the next few months will bring, but I'll try very hard not to bore you to death. In the coming weeks, I'll be redesigning this journal and redoing my profile page. Bear with me. You may find something different each time you log in until I've settled in again.

Remember, life is change and change is necessary or we stagnate.

On to new and better things...
