I’ve been considering the viability of my website for a while now. It doesn’t get much traffic, two or three visits per day, and I’ve been trying to decide whether it’s worth the upkeep or not. Well, my ISP seems to have made the decision for me by forcing features onto what was supposed to be a free account without giving me the option to opt out.

My contract is up at the end of this month and I will not be renewing it. This means the site is coming down. I currently have no plans to move to another ISP. It’s really not worth it for me. I plan to archive the files and will make .zip files of the site available to anyone who wants them. More on that in a later post.

And before I start getting offers to help, cuz I know you guys, it’s not the money. The fees come to less than $20 per month, pocket change. My ISP was great when I first signed up with them more than ten years ago but the climate has changed, the company has changed, and the politics have changed. In addition to that, you may have noticed, that I am trying to move away from fanfic. It was fun while I was doing it but really, I no longer have any interest. I don’t write it and I rarely read it anymore.

I’ve fallen in with a crowd of writers who have made the transition to legitimate work and I’m beginning to realize that this is where I want to be. Who Aeon Cole was, honestly, is a hindrance to who Aeon Cole is becoming. I need to do this if I’m going to move forward.

I’ll talk more about this later on but for now, I just wanted to let you know that, if you are one of the two or three people who access my site, grab what you want to keep now. I can guarantee the site until March 28th. After that it’s up to the service provider how long it is before the site comes down.
