Days off in the middle of the week and nachos for dinner...

...I feel like I’m back in college.

Because the people at the college who are responsible for making the schedules don’t actually look at the calendar, our spring break was back in March instead of this week when the holidays are. So, due to Passover and Easter, there are no classes today (Tuesday), Wednesday, and Friday.

Do you really think anyone is going to class this week? Come on...

I cancelled. No point really. I’m working Thursday for a half day and I was in Monday.

So, weird week.

I had a sudden burst of energy this morning and cleaned my apartment. Well, most of it. I’m hoping for another tomorrow so I can do the rest of it. Then I can relax this weekend. This is just the first step in downsizing for a possible move sometime later this year. Still not certain about any of that yet but things at work are seriously grim and something has to give soon. And all I know is I just want to be watching it from a distance.

I haven’t done a TV post in a while so...

I started watching Game of Thrones this past weekend. If you have HBO and like fantasy, middle-earthy stuff, this is a must-see. I haven’t read the books but I probably will after the first season (ten episodes) air. I have a queue of 6 books on my Kindle as it is.

New favorite show: The Killing on AMC. Episodes are available on AMC’s website. Four have aired so far. This show is taking a whole different approach to the crime drama genre. And it’s set in Seattle so it has this rainy noir feel to it. I don’t want to give anything away. Just go watch it.

I watched the first two seasons of The Guild and just started on the second season of BSG. I need more hours during the day, or a way to function on a lot less sleep.

I’m getting kind of bored with the CSI shows. The writing’s getting stale. I don’t like seeing shows get canceled before their time but dragging them out for a decade isn’t any better. Add to that all of the new stuff that the cable channels and some of the other networks are producing that is so well written, they either need to raise the bar or put them to rest. /soapbox

How about books...

Not that he needs my help or anything but I love Scott Sigler so I will do a little promotion.

Do you like football and scifi? Then you need to be reading the GFL series. That stands for the Galactic Football League, by the way. I’m the first to admit that I am not a football fan. Don’t know anything about it. But I love Sigler’s other books, scifi horror mostly, so I thought I would give this a try. I’m actually starting to not hate football.

The books that are out now are The Rookie and The Starter. They follow the career of a rookie player in the GFL, 700 years in the future. Sigler is a master of creating believable, visually striking worlds in all of his books. These are no different. Again, I don’t want to give too much away. So I’ll just say The Rookie is fun book to read, even if you know nothing about football, and I’m looking forward to reading The Starter. The third book in the series, The All Pro, will be out soon. He just started taking pre-orders. And if you are a football fan, there is more than enough details, team stats, player stats, even a playbook, to keep you hooked.

Also, he posts free audiobook versions of all of his books on his website in podcast form.

And finally, I know you guys hate when I do this but, I found another cool site. Yes, it does involve shopping. Click at your wallets risk...
