There is something a little too Mad Max about using an ereader by candlelight...

So, we got our power back last night. We’d been out since late Saturday night. We really didn’t have any damage to our property. There was just one tree down that was small enough for me to drag off to the side of the property and of course, a lot of debris and branches. The dog was so happy when I finally let him out because he had a yard full of sticks to play with.

The town didn’t fair so well though. 75% of my town lost power and all of my village was dark. They got parts of Main St up first and the diner was one of the first businesses open so at least we all had somewhere to eat. There were a lot of roads blocked by downed trees and poles which had some folks trapped in. It’s going to be the end of next week before everyone is back up and running.

Unfortunately, our generator is old and it decided that it didn’t want to run for more than an hour or so at a time. I spent a good deal of time with our handyman trying to fix it. He finally got it working a couple of hours before the power came back on. So next hurricane we’ll be fine.

All in all it wasn’t too bad. I’ve lived through worse hurricanes and longer outages. I remember in 1983, hurricane Gloria, I was a freshmen in college. The storm came through a bit later in September and knocked us a good one. We were out of power for 8 days. A lot of people were out longer.

So, pretty much everything is back to normal now and I can shower regularly again which was really the only thing I missed being able to do.

Glad to hear things are starting to get back to normal. Hopefully, Katia stays away from the States.

Glad to hear you're backin action again and have no damage. I've been thinking of you when they talk about all the damage
