So, acute bronchitis. I can't just get regular old bronchitis.

I went to the doctor this morning because I couldn't breath last night. Two nebulizer treatments later and I can mostly breathe. So now it's antibiotics, steroids, and a new rescue inhaler. And I still can't lie down without coughing so at least one more night of sleeping propped up in the corner of the sofa.

I really know how to live it up :(

I've had acute bronchitis and asthmatic bronchitis a few times. Neither is fun. And both zap all the energy you have.

FEEL BETTER SOON!!

Got to admit, this really sucks. I've had bronchitis and I have asthma. But this is insane. I just want the coughing to stop. The doc said it could take a couple of days.

Yes! That is the part that sucks. It's like doing a bunch sit up/ab exercises and not getting any benefit from it but being even more tired.

Do you have a home nebulizer? It won't stop the coughing, but it will help it some (at least for me it does).

No. My asthma was never bad enough to warrant it. My sister does though, for my nephew. I really hate it though. The albuterol makes me so gittery. I actually had some trouble walking right after a double dose this morning.

Do you know the other (old home remedy) trick then? Coffee/espresso/hot chocolate (hot) drink.

Both types of drinks have a form of theophylline (found in caffeine and it's in our asthma (rescue) meds). It might help your breathing and stop the coughing slightly. The hot drink will help with a sore throat (if you have one) so it's a multipurpose drink :)

Oh, and I'll admit, that after a nebulizer treatment I sometime feel a little light headed.

Yes. Coffee is a favorite remedy. I did that this morning knowing I couldn't get to the clinic until 9. My mom used to give me coffee as a kid when my asthma would act up.

Well, I never thought I'd define waking up feeling like I have a nasty cold as "feeling better" but…</p>

Actually being able to sleep last night helped.
